The Golden Age of Whaling
How does the overlapping histories of whales, US slavery, and 19th Century whaling impact our current state of globalization and climate change? This line of inquiry has informed Hoffman’s art for over a decade. Working across media, the resulting artwork has been expressed through several bodies of work. Included here are images of some of the digital drawings, mixed-media collages, drawings and paintings, and site-specific installations.
