Liquid Gold- Black Gold, the Golden Age of Whaling. Installation of the exhibition at The Greenleaf Gallery at Whittier College, 2012
The series of portraits explored in “Liquid Gold-Black Gold, the Golden Age of Whaling” illustrates the connections between the whales migration path, the whalers following in pursuit, and the Underground Railroad as told through the narratives of the people who lived them. The artworks in this series have been created through the use of historic images, documents from the abolitionist movement and narratives written by the formerly enslaved.
