A Rose Now and Then
A Rose Now and Then
pen and ink on paper
14" x 16"
2007

Trite as it is, smelling a rose in 2007 brought me back to walking my dog and happening across a high school crush smelling a flower with his father. The memories depicted in this drawing include the day's events in San Diego that led up to stopping to smell the rose, which then triggered the memory of observing the boy smelling the flower, as well as the ensuing teenage fantasies I had in response to learning about where he lived.
