After high school I moved to New York, 2005
“After high school I moved to New York” takes a year of the artist’s life, and encapsulates it in a wooden viewing device. The year Hoffman turned 18 she moved to NYC and lived at a time where being open was the key to meeting strangers and experiencing what a city like NY can offer. Inspired by the quest of the Cabinet of Curiosities collector: that an entire planet could be contained and collected in a room. The year is re-created in form and memory and reduced to the size of an orange.
The exterior can be turned, allowing differing vantage points through the lenses.
